Anglo-Celt/Rehab Cavan Person of the Year Awards

>Anglo-Celt/Rehab Cavan Person of the Year awards took place in the Hotel Kilmore recently. There were nine category award winners and they are as follows: Fundraiser of the Year - Fergal Brady, Good Neighbour of the Year - Terry Brennan, Community Volunteer of the Year – Mary Lawlor, Cultural Ambassador of the Year - Betty Denning, Sports Person of the Year - Aisling Doonan, Carer of the Year - Maud Myles, Community Group of the Year- Killygarry Community Group, Grandparent of the Year - Nuala Smith and Young Person of the Year - Lorna Tierney. The overall winner and Cavan Person of the Year was Mary Lawlor from Drumlane. There was a Special Achievement Award presented to Chef Neven Maguire from the award winning MacNean house & Restaurant in Blacklion. Presentations were also made to Peter Stokes and Jonny McKiernan from Rehab Industries for their outstanding work with Rehab over the years. This years Awards had viewers from all over the world looking in as the event was streamed on the Anglo Celt and Cavantv.com website by Drumlinmedia.com

Cavantv.com were in the AVIVA Stadium Lansdowne Road Saturday 7th April to record the Cavan Rugby Football Club Singers entertain the crowd at the Heineken Cup semi-final between Leinster and Cardiff Blues. The Boys were magnificent in their Blue attire and received tremendous applause from large crowd who attended the Match

Ray D’Arcy was in Cavan on Thursday 5th April 2012 for Athletics Ireland and Join SPAR and Ray for 5K! Run. Chapter 1 was treated to a taste of the hugely successful Cavan entry to the RTE.IE/STORYLANDS series. The Begrudgers written by Phillip Doherty and starring Ray Fitzsimons as "Snout", Shane Carroll as "Nobby", Shane O'Connor as "Tommy", Hugh B O'Brien as "Jim", Brianne Fitzpatrick as "Gemma" and Will Govan as "George". Snout and Nobby spend most of their time drinking pints of Porter in their local and begrudge everyone and everything they meet. Their world is overturned when Gemma an American and George an Englishman buy their local and set about transforming it into a 21st century Bar. The Begrudgers are part of the RTE Storyland series and people are asked to vote for the act of their choice in order to secure entry to the next series.
