A large crowd gathered on the banks of the Woodford River/Erne Shannon Waterway Canal to see the Atlas 30 ton 1702 Excavator that lay15 feet below the wetlands of Fermanagh since 1992 finally raised to the surface. Irishwebv.com recorded the event on Saturday and Sunday and it attracted a large gathering of supporters on both days. The Woodford River/Erne Shannon Waterway Canal was lined with Boats for all of the proceedings. UPDATE ANGLO CELT LOCAL SEPT 13TH EDITION NEWSPAPER
The Atlas 1702 long reach digger, which was recovered from the bog in Dernagore, Derrylin over the June Bank Holiday weekend 2012, has been purchased jointly by Wilton Waste Recycling and Laz Metal Recycling. The machine weighed 20 tonnes. Wilton Waste Recycling and Laz paid €210 per tonne and donated €1,000 on top of this to the Charity Excavator Challenge. The machine is to go to India for metal recycling. The cheque of €5,200 now takes the total raised to €27,000. Donations of €500 each have already been given to Spina Bifida and Down's Syndrome.
