The Mass Rock


The Mass Rock Author Tara Maria Lovett talks to Paul Cox in The Green Room about her life and her career as a writer. Tara Maria explains she started at the age of 12 and continued picking up Awards at Local and National level. Tara Maria was joined in the Studio by Mary Cronin who plays a Nun in the Mass Rock. Paul quized Tara and Mary and tried to get them to divulge details of the Mass Rock but they resisted saying the audience will be suprised and even shocked with parts of the play and the only way to satisfy their curiosity was to go and see it

Charity Excavator Challenge Final Success recorded by Irishwebtv.com on Sunday 3rd June 2012

A large crowd gathered on the banks of the Woodford River/Erne Shannon Waterway Canal to see the Atlas 30 ton 1702 Excavator that lay15 feet below the wetlands of Fermanagh since 1992 finally raised to the surface. Irishwebv.com recorded the event on Saturday and Sunday and it attracted a large gathering of supporters on both days. The Woodford River/Erne Shannon Waterway Canal was lined with Boats for all of the proceedings. UPDATE ANGLO CELT LOCAL SEPT  13TH EDITION NEWSPAPER
 The Atlas 1702 long reach digger, which was recovered from the bog in Dernagore, Derrylin over the June Bank Holiday weekend 2012, has been purchased jointly by Wilton Waste Recycling and Laz Metal Recycling.  The machine weighed 20 tonnes.  Wilton Waste Recycling and Laz paid €210 per tonne and donated €1,000 on top of this to the Charity Excavator Challenge.  The machine is to go to India for metal recycling.  The cheque of €5,200 now takes the total raised to €27,000.  Donations of €500 each have already been given to Spina Bifida and Down's Syndrome.

Mr Richard Bruton, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation was the keynote speaker at the Invest in Cavan Conference organised by Mr Joe O'Reilly TD Cavan/Monaghan. The Invest in Cavan Conference included speakers from Industry, Commerce and the Local Authority. Minister Bruton's speech concluded with a Q&A session with active engagement from members of the audience. The following speakers spoke at the meeting. Mr Ger Finn, Director of Services Cavan Co. Cavantv.com member of the Irishwebtv.com Media Group recorded an exclusive exchange between Cllr Sean McKiernan Fine Gael, Cathaoirleach Cavan County Council and Senator Kathryn Reilly Sinn Féin on the 30th Amendment to the Constitution in the Council Chamber, Courthouse, Cavan. This Amendment if passed will allow the Government to ratify the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union. Sean and Kathryn were joined in the Chamber by interested parties on both sides of the debate and some lively exchanges insued during the programme. The debate was jointly chaired by Kate Ennals and Daniel Downey.

Cavan institute Creative Exibition 2012 took place in Jacksons Showrooms Farnham Street Cavan from Friday 27th April to Thursday 3rd May excluding Sunday 29th April
  • NewsMultimedia Students Dare2Bdrinkaware is a digital film competition sponsored by drinkaware.ie and run by the Digital Hub Development Agency based in Dublin. Drinkaware, is a drinks industry-sponsored organisation promoting the “respectful consumption of alcohol”. The results are out on the Dare 2b Drinkaware competition, and one of our First Year Multimedia students, Paul Farnan, has come joint FIRST in the individual interaction competition with his entry "Home Party Quiz". All our second year Multimedia students, in three different film teams, reached the shortlisted finals, and we congratulate them on their good work in the films "Reflections", "The Water Bottle" and "Dare to be Drink Aware".
  • Art, Craft and Design Art, Craft and Design students display a range of work from Painting, Sculpture, Drawing and Printmaking. This is an invitation to the public to see the different minds, talents and imaginations used in the creative process by students when creating art.
  • Computer Games Design Computer Games Design concentrates on principles of designing computer games. The course provides exposure to all aspects of games development from initial concept, to storyboard creation and from design through the development stage culminating in fully functioning 2D and 3D games. Computer Games Programming concentrates on the development stage of computer games, and provides students with a firm foundation in the craft of writing computer programs and creating 2D and 3D computer games.
  • Furniture Design and Manufacture This year's Furniture Design class is displaying a selection of their individually designed pedestal tables, mirrors and other finely crafted items. Their pieces reflect the energy and intensity that the class group has shown in their efforts during the past year.
  • Make-up Artistry This course offers a professional qualification as a Make-up Artist. It covers all aspects of Make-up Artistry including Fashion, Theatre, TV, Film and Special Effects make-up. It combines the technical skills and artistic elements required of a make-up artist with a focus on fashion co-ordination, hair styles and special effects. As part of this course students create make-up looks for fashion shows, magazine shoots and theatrical performances in order to devleop a compreshensive portfolio of their work.
  • Multimedia and Web Design Students of Multimedia learn a broad range of skills in Computer Graphics, Video Editing, Interactivity, animation and web design. The emphasis is on using digital media for design purposes. Students gain experience in software programs such as Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Cubase, Director, Illustrator and Final Cut Pro. The course, although theoretical, is also very practical and provides participants with a thorough understanding of multimedia development.

Anglo-Celt/Rehab Cavan Person of the Year Awards

>Anglo-Celt/Rehab Cavan Person of the Year awards took place in the Hotel Kilmore recently. There were nine category award winners and they are as follows: Fundraiser of the Year - Fergal Brady, Good Neighbour of the Year - Terry Brennan, Community Volunteer of the Year – Mary Lawlor, Cultural Ambassador of the Year - Betty Denning, Sports Person of the Year - Aisling Doonan, Carer of the Year - Maud Myles, Community Group of the Year- Killygarry Community Group, Grandparent of the Year - Nuala Smith and Young Person of the Year - Lorna Tierney. The overall winner and Cavan Person of the Year was Mary Lawlor from Drumlane. There was a Special Achievement Award presented to Chef Neven Maguire from the award winning MacNean house & Restaurant in Blacklion. Presentations were also made to Peter Stokes and Jonny McKiernan from Rehab Industries for their outstanding work with Rehab over the years. Chapter 1 was treated to a taste of the hugely successful Cavan entry to the RTE.IE/STORYLANDS series. The Begrudgers written by Phillip Doherty and starring Ray Fitzsimons as "Snout", Shane Carroll as "Nobby", Shane O'Connor as "Tommy", Hugh B O'Brien as "Jim", Brianne Fitzpatrick as "Gemma" and Will Govan as "George". Snout and Nobby spend most of their time drinking pints of Porter in their local and begrudge everyone and everything they meet. Their world is overturned when Gemma an American and George an Englishman buy their local and set about transforming it into a 21st century Bar. The Begrudgers are part of the RTE Storyland series and people are asked to vote for the act of their choice in order to secure entry to the next series.
